When I was younger I was always inspired by movies I watched on television. Viewing them close to the screen and wondering how they did it. But I never considered it to be something I could do myself. Until around 2012 when I had to make my first short film for a school project. I loved it so much and realised it was something I could build a future on. From that first short film it became a literal obsession and I haven’t had any other hobby since. Finding my way through the industry I’ve been involved in almost every part of production for multiple short films, tv shows, movies, music videos, company videos, documentaries, and event videos. Finally finding my place behind the camera as a Director of Photography. Since then I’ve shot several short films, music videos and promotional videos for brands like Weightwatchers, RedBull, and Albert Heijn.
While my true passion is to tell stories by capturing light with a camera, I have experience as an editor. Editing a few short films, music videos, a tv-show, and lots of promotional videos. Doing everything from editing to sound design and color grading. Because while I love working with expensive cameras, all that matters is the story that I’m trying to tell. In the end, telling stories is the reason why I got into video and filmmaking. And editing helps me have full control of what people are going to see and feel when they watch my videos. It has also helped me greatly as a cinematographer. To understand what an editor thinks and needs to tell a compelling story has been a valuable skill.
